5 reasons celebrants should write a blog

If, as a professional celebrant, you have a website, then make sure you have one that can feature a blog. Most companies that offer website builders like Squarespace, Go Daddy, IONOS, WIX etc, have blog post creation integral to them. Why? Because of the well known benefits that having a blog post gives your website. Here I will explain 5 of these good reasons.

  1. It helps drive traffic to your website: Every person with a website wants more visitors and for this you need to have a website which maximise its “Search Engine Optimisation”. Google & other search engines have algorithms that love new content, tags and pages that give people what they want. Every new blog post is creating new content on your website. Every blog post enables you to attach SEO keywords as tags to the page. Also, if the content of your blog post is absorbing & keeps people engaged, it will reduce your “Bounce Rate”. This is a sign that users are finding your website useful & it will boost your SEO ranking.

  2. It will boost your social media. Celebrants often say they struggle to create content for social media. Well, if you write a blog, then don’t just use the material you have written once, repurpose it and use it for your social media posts too. Some blog-posting facilities allow you to do this automatically with website integrations with your social media platforms. Or on a very basic level, just use copy and paste. Perhaps you don’t struggle with content for social media…brilliant, then repurpose this content as blog posts. It works both ways. You still have to come up with the ideas and what to write, but at least it will feel more efficient and time well spent.

  3. Creates yourself as an Industry Authority. If your blog posts offer free and useful insights into the wedding or funeral industry, then it will create content which will set you up as a knowledgeable & trustworthy expert. You can then use links to various blog posts in responses to client enquiries, as links in newsletters or as links in an email marketing campaign. When potential clients are looking at you and your website to see if you can help them with their ceremony or service, the more authoritative & helpful appear to be, the more likely they are to trust and go with you.

  4. Turn visitors into leads. A good blog post will also feature effective ways to turn visitors into more solid leads. These are called “Calls to Action”. It may be a simple phone number or an email link, it could be a button or hyperlink to a contact form or to book a video call with you. If your website has pop-ups, then this is a good way to invite people to give you their email so that you can keep in touch with them. You can then in time turn these cold “leads” into ones that are warm, receptive and ready to book you.

  5. Long-term growth. Any improvement in search engine ranking will not be quick and automatic. If a good blog post gets traction, over time it will rank higher and higher as people search for keywords and this in time improves your website. Some of my best performing website pages are blog posts that I wrote and published 12+ months ago. Because you can track these good performing posts, then these are the ones to add more “Calls to Action”, they can be further updated or even re-purposed a number of times. When you create content, you don’t always know what will fly and what wont. So it is important to manage and track your blog posts over time and double down on your successes.
