Commitment Ceremony
Commitment Ceremony
What is a Commitment Ceremony?
A Commitment Ceremony is when two people want to make a public and visible commitment to each other and perhaps also to children (see Parental Commitment Ceremony).
The couple may not want or ever have any plans to marry. They may or may not want to enter a legal civil partnership with their partner. Both marriage and civil partnerships have legal ramifications in terms of legal ownership and responsibility over assets and automatic access to children. A Commitment ceremony has no legal status but is a beautiful way of celebrating your love and commitment to each other.
When would it take place?
A Commitment Ceremony can take place at any time in a relationship. Often, a couple might want to have a commitment ceremony to mark a significant anniversary for their relationship or perhaps they are planning to or are about to have a child together. There is no rule.
Where can it take place?
A Commitment Ceremony can take place in any location. You could hire a venue and invite many guests and have professional catering. Alternatively, you could have an intimate event in a private house or garden. You could have a commitment ceremony outdoors at your favourite local beauty spot (as long as you have the land owners permission).
I offer tow different types of Commitment ceremony to suit different budgets. A Traditional Commitment Ceremony and a Modern Commitment Ceremony which includes a mini-ritual.
