The Kiss

The Kiss.jpg

Every celebrant-led ceremony is a personal creation, written uniquely for the couple & their love story. At some point, however, we will always get to “the kiss”.

I give the couple a range of choices over the words I will use at this point. Traditionally “You may now kiss the bride” is used & is still very popular, but there are also many other variations.

“You may now kiss your groom” is a great alternative with a mixed gender couple.

With same-sex couples “You may now kiss your bride/groom” automatically has great balance.

To create a balance in a mixed gender couple “You may now kiss each other” or “You may now have your first wedded kiss” are popular choices.

Whatever words you choose, it should feel right for you. It’s probably the most intimate but public part of the ceremony, usually generating a spontaneous round of happy applause.

It’s personal choice what words you use if you are given a choice. With a celebrant-led wedding ceremony all the words used are meaningful as they can reflect your own personalities, choices & values.
